Board of Advisors

Suchita Vishwakarma brings deep expertise in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery to Bend Biomedical’s mission of developing accessible, high-quality medicines for underserved populations. Currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, she focuses on targeted protein degradation strategies, including the design and synthesis of PROTACs (proteolysis-targeting chimeras) for diseases like Alzheimer’s, leukemia, cancer, and Leishmaniasis. Her innovative work spans both computational and synthetic chemistry, bridging molecular design with real-world impact.

Before pursuing her doctorate, Suchita gained industry experience at Aragen Life Sciences and served as a Junior Research Fellow on a Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi)-sponsored project at NMIMS University in India. There, she played a key role in developing small molecule inhibitors for Leishmaniasis, honing her skills in multistep synthesis, compound optimization, and collaborative research for global health.

Beyond the lab, Suchita has demonstrated leadership and service in academic and cultural communities. She has served as Vice President of the International Student Association, Vice Chair of the AAPS-UNMC Student Chapter, and an International Student Ambassador. Her Business for Bioscientists certification from the University of Nebraska at Omaha reflects her passion for integrating science with business to drive sustainable, mission-driven innovation.

At Bend Biomedical, Suchita contributes scientific insight, cross-cultural perspective, and a strong commitment to solving neglected health challenges. Her values align closely with our goal of transforming pharmaceutical research into medicines that reach the people who need them most.
