Joining Bend Biomedical in 2021, Ward Smith is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the packaging industry, currently serving as the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Keystone Folding Box Company. He is recognized as the lead innovator behind ecoslide-RX™, a groundbreaking eco-friendly, child-resistant compliance package that has been adopted nationally by Walmart pharmacies. His commitment to developing safe and sustainable packaging solutions has significantly influenced patient compliance in medication management.
Before his role at Keystone, Ward honed his expertise as a Compliance Packaging Specialist and Clinical Trial Specialist at MeadWestvaco Corporation. His diverse background also includes serving as the Executive Director at the Atlanta Institute of Medicine & Research, where he contributed to the advancement of medical research and packaging standards. Ward holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Florida State University and is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Drug Information Association, the Midwest Clinical Supply Group, and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering.
At Keystone Folding Box Company, Ward is dedicated to designing and manufacturing innovative blister packaging that enhances patient compliance for both clinical trials and marketed prescription products. One of the company’s flagship products is the Key-Pak™ F-1, a protocol-tested and approved child-resistant, senior-friendly blister card. This traditional fold-over blister card is ideal for packaging solid oral dosage forms, catering to the needs of both commercial prescriptions and clinical trials.
