Cindy Lee Riesen joined our Board of Directors in 2021. A compassionate advocate for public and global health, her dedication to making a difference has shaped her lifelong journey. Cindy’s commitment to supporting clean water initiatives, vaccine distribution, and nutrition and education programs in Africa has had an impact on communities in need.
With a deep understanding of the pressing global health crises, Cindy firmly believes in approaching them with wisdom rather than ignorance. Her extensive educational background reflects her multidisciplinary approach to addressing these challenges. Cindy holds degrees in biology, nursing, and computer science, equipping her with a diverse skill set to tackle complex health issues.
Cindy’s professional experience includes working at the Pediatric Immunology laboratories of Case Western Reserve University, where she conducted research on vaccine models against pneumococcus. Her invaluable contributions to vaccine development have the potential to safeguard countless lives. Additionally, Cindy dedicated a decade of service to the Cleveland Clinic as a nurse, providing compassionate care to patients. During her time there, she also utilized her expertise in computer science to develop computerized hospital charting templates, optimizing the flow of care and minimizing errors.
Currently, Cindy volunteers her time and expertise to create workbooks for families and patients facing mental health challenges. Her dedication to improving mental health outcomes reflects her holistic approach to well-being.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Cindy finds solace in the outdoors and embraces the practice of Tai Chi for its physical and mental benefits. She also nurtures her love for culinary exploration, actively learning how to cook favorite meals from diverse cultures around the world.
Cindy has two college-age sons, who share her commitment to making a positive impact on global health. Her supportive family provides the foundation for her tireless efforts in creating a healthier and more equitable world.
