Mission

Bend Biomedical is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit global health pharmaceutical company. We deliver high-quality, low-cost medicines to prevent and cure serious diseases in neglected populations around the world.

Bend Biomedical focuses on preventable or curable diseases that cause a substantial burden of illness or death in underserved populations and for which access to effective treatment remains inadequate.

We prioritize medicines where Bend Biomedical can help close a meaningful gap in global treatment access. Our target medicines fall into two categories:

Treatment Gap Medicines

Medicines already manufactured and donated at scale by pharmaceutical companies, but for which significant treatment gaps remain because existing donations do not reach everyone who needs treatment.

Our Selection Criteria

Bend Biomedical prioritizes medicines that can make a large, measurable difference in global health, particularly when:

● The disease is preventable or curable.

● The disease affects large numbers of people, particularly children and other vulnerable populations.

● Effective medicines already exist but access remains inadequate.

● There is a significant treatment, supply, affordability, formulation, or distribution gap.

● Bend Biomedical can provide a meaningful solution through manufacturing, packaging, procurement, or distribution.

Our medicines fit into three categories

1. Extremely dose-efficient — one-time treatment

2. Periodic mass prevention

3. Longer courses

We do not require every target disease to meet a single numerical threshold, such as a minimum number of cases per year. Instead, we consider the overall burden of illness, disability, and death; the availability of effective prevention or treatment; the severity of existing access gaps; and Bend Biomedical’s ability to make a meaningful, measurable contribution.
